Shimano Curado DC Spinning Reel – Modern and Effective

The genuine Shimano Curado DC spinning reel is one of the most popular lure fishing reels, renowned for its Digital Control (DC) technology – a digital brake control system that helps the reel prevent line tangles effectively. Notably, the reel produces a distinctive ‘O o’ sound when casting the lure, giving the Shimano DC range its own unique character.

The Shimano Curado DC is a premium spinning reel within the Curado range, highly regarded for its exceptionally impressive durability, and has quickly taken the fishing tackle market by storm.

Shimano Curado DC – bringing the modern spirit of Industry 4.0

As mentioned above, the Shimano Curado features the I-DC4 electronic drag system – a technology never before seen on any fishing reel in the world.

When fishing, the moving spool generates an electric current and an induced magnetic field. Traditional reels use a centrifugal drag system to reduce the spool’s acceleration. However, this type of drag is inefficient, imprecise and causes the spool to wear out quickly. In contrast, the I-DC4 drag system incorporates an electronic chip.

The chip measures the intensity of the generated electric current 1,000 times per second and combines this with the angler’s adjustments via the external control knob to modify the spool’s acceleration for the most suitable and precise performance.

The spool of the Shimano Curado DC is the S3D series – Shimano Stable Spool Design – which offers extremely high balance and ultra-lightweight construction.

In addition to the I-DC4, the Shimano Curado DC also features MicroModule technology, comprising the main gear and pinion gear, which ensures smooth, quiet operation and minimises noise. The S-ARB ball bearing series offers resistance to rust, corrosion and dust.

Furthermore, the Shimano Curado DC features a reel body made from ultra-durable Hagane alloy, utilising HGN one-piece casting technology. As a result, the reel offers exceptional corrosion resistance. Anglers can use the Shimano Curado for saltwater fishing with confidence, without worrying about oxidation or rust.

The pinion gear on this model is fitted with ball bearings at both ends, ensuring that the pinion gear remains stable even under heavy loads or when the reel is spinning at high speeds.
Living up to its reputation as the ‘crowning jewel’ of the renowned Japanese fishing tackle brand, the Shimano Curado DC has quickly won over anglers from the very first use.
