A guide to tying single-hook and double-hook six-hook lures

Before you set out to go fishing, you should learn how to tie fishing hooks properly. We’ll look at three types of hook knots: the six-hook knot, the single hook knot and the double hook knot

1. Guide to tying a six-hook rig

For those new to six-hook fishing, tying six hooks can be a real headache. In this article, we’ll provide the most detailed guide to tying six hooks. It’s a simple yet highly effective method.

a. Materials:

  • 0.33mm fishing line
  • Size 10 hook

b. How to tie a six-hook rig

To learn how to tie a six-hook rig, please follow the steps below.

Step 1. First, thread one end of the monofilament line through the eye of the hook; then, take the end you have just threaded through and thread it back through the eye in the opposite direction. You will now have two ends of the line on one side and a loop on the other. Hold the side with the two ends of the line in one hand, and with the other hand, take the remaining end and wrap it around the loop three times.

Step 2. Thread the folded end of the fishing line through the entire hook

- Pull the two ends of the fishing line firmly with your hand. Pull very hard until they all come together to form a single knot. Cut off the excess fishing line (cut it to a shorter length).

- Fold back the long end of the line by about 15 cm.

- Then twist it many times so that the lines are plaited together.

Step 3. Continue by folding the twisted section in half.

Tie a tight knot at the two folded ends, then cut off the excess line.

And there you have it – you’ve now completed the six-hook rig. If you’d like detailed advice on tying a six-hook rig, you can contact Tuấn Kiệt Fishing Tackle directly via their website: docautuankiet.com

2. Tips on tying a single hook

Tying a single hook is the easiest method compared to tying a six-hook or double hook. There are three methods for tying a single hook that are most commonly used by anglers today:

a. How to tie a single hook with a knot at the tip (without an eye for threading the line)

This method is for hooks that do not have an eye on the shank. The method for tying a single hook without an eye is suitable for small hooks, size 16 and above. The method for tying a single hook without an eye is as follows:

Buộc lưỡi câu đơn - Step 1

First, make a loop. This loop must have a diameter equal to the length of the hook. Then, hold the knot of the loop firmly against the shank of the hook.

  • Next, wrap the right-hand end of the line around the hook shank five times. A small tip when wrapping is to ensure the line passes through the knot loop with each turn.
  • Once you have finished tying, dip the entire line into water to lubricate it. Next, pull the left end of the line to tighten the knot.
  • If you are using a worm as bait, trim the excess line close to the hook. For those fishing with groundbait, you should leave an excess of 0.3–0.5 mm. This excess line helps the bait last longer.

b. How to tie a single hook with a line-threading eye using the Universel method

Tying a single hook with a line-threading eye using the Universel method is very simple and quick. This method is specifically used for hooks with an eye and for tying spinnerbaits or jigs. Below is a detailed guide on how to tie a single hook with a line-threading eye using the Universel method

Buộc lưỡi câu đơn - Step 3

First, thread one end of the line through the hook eye (also known as an anti-twist eye, line-hooking eye, etc.). Note that the section of line used should be between 15 and 20 cm long.

Next, loop the line to form a circle and hold the loop firmly. Thread the end of the line through the loop. Gently wrap the line around the shank 5 to 7 times.

Buộc lưỡi câu đơn - Step 4

As with the knot described above, you must dip the wound line into water to lubricate it. Give the main line a sharp tug until the knot is tightly secured. Finally, trim off any excess line.

c. How to tie a single hook with a Paloma line-eye

Of the three methods for tying a single hook, this is the easiest. To tie a single hook with a Paloma line-threading eye, follow these steps in order:

Buộc lưỡi câu đơn - Step 5

  • Step one: make a loop and then thread the end of the line through the eye.
  • Next, gently pull the end of the line out to a suitable length so that when you wrap it, you can hook the loop onto the hook.

Buộc lưỡi câu đơn - Step 6

  • Step 3 is similar to Step 1: make a small loop. Then thread the end of the line through that loop.
  • Then, gently hook the end of the line onto the tip of the hook from below.
  • For the final step, hold the hook with one hand whilst using the other to gently pull the fishing line out to tighten the knots. As with the tying methods described above, dip everything in water to lubricate it. Finally, tie a tight knot and trim off the excess line – and you’re done.

3. Guide to tying a double hook

Compared to a single hook, a double hook is far more effective for catching fish. For experienced anglers, the method for tying a double hook is already second nature.

However, for beginners, tying a double hook correctly is certainly no easy task.

Detailed instructions for tying a double hook

Step 1. Thread the fishing line

  • First, you need to prepare two single hooks: one large and one smaller. Using hooks of this size increases your chances of a successful catch. Once a fish is hooked on both hooks, it is very difficult for it to escape.
  • Next, use a pair of scissors to cut a length of fishing line approximately 80 cm long.

Buộc lưỡi câu đôi

  • Thread the fishing line through the eye of the larger hook. Leave a tail of about 5 cm protruding from the hook.
  • Wrap the remaining end of the monofilament line 11 times around the hook eye. Make sure to wrap it very tightly. Wrap it so that the loops are tightly packed together in a single row.
  • Next, thread the long end of the fishing line through the hook eye from the back of the hook to the front.

Step 2. Wrapping the fishing line

Pull firmly with your hand to tighten the loops securely around the hook shank.

Kéo dây thật mạnh để thắt chặt các vòng dây

  • This method is very secure; as you pull the line, the wraps tighten further around the hook and are very unlikely to come loose.
  • Then cut off the excess line.
  • Next, thread the remaining end of the line through the smaller hook.
  • You should leave a gap of 1 to 1.5 cm between the two hooks.
  • Position the two hooks parallel to each other. The following steps are similar to the method for tying the larger hook described above.
  • Wrap the fishing line 8 times around the hook eye
  • Thread the end of the line through the eye in the opposite direction to the large hook – that is, from the front of the hook to the back.
  • Pull firmly with your hand to ensure the wraps are tight against the hook shank.

That completes the method for tying a double hook. Once finished, try to adjust the line so that the two hooks are parallel to each other.

Các bước hoàn thành

This rig catches both small and large fish. Small fish will be hooked on the smaller hook, whilst larger fish will be hooked on the larger one.

This is the simplest yet most effective method for tying a double hook. Most anglers use this method.
The above is a detailed guide on how to tie a six-hook rig, a single hook, and a double hook.
