Key Features and Technologies
1. Light Tough
The Daiwa Freams LT 2021 incorporates LT (Light Tough) technology: this is a new innovation in the brand’s reel manufacturing. With this technology, Daiwa has produced new reels that are smaller yet incredibly powerful. The compact design of the reel body, combined with the more powerful Digigear transmission, epitomises the perfect blend of strength and lightness.
2. Use of Magsealed magnetic oil
MAGSEALED is a magnetic oil that ensures protection for all internal components, provides water resistance and improves the spool’s rotation. Originally, this oil was used by the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to protect hard drives from dust, and Daiwa was the first to apply it to fishing reels to provide dust and water resistance.
Its high dust and water resistance helps increase durability; the biggest breakthrough is the elimination of the need for a seal to prevent water from entering the reel, resulting in a smoother casting experience. The Daiwa Freams LT 2021 is the most affordable model manufactured in Vietnam to feature this Magsealed oil.
Daiwa has overcome the challenge of controlling magnetic field strength and force through field testing conducted by the finest experts in each fishing technique, repeated hundreds of times until adjustments were made down to the micrometre! The results have demonstrated a significant improvement in the smoothness of the reel’s rotation.

3. ATD Drag Technology
The ATD drag system features carbon washers impregnated with a specialised grease to optimise performance. This system delivers greater friction at the outset and provides a more stable and progressive drag.
The risk of line tangling is kept to a minimum as the ATD adjusts to every stage of the fight: it operates more quickly and progressively during the initial run-out but provides a firmer hold against the reel’s rotational force during the middle stages. It is precisely this adaptive feature that has earned it the name ‘Automatic’.

4. ZAION – Strong, lightweight, corrosion-resistant metal
Some of Daiwa’s reel bodies and rotors are made from Zaion, a proprietary high-density carbon material that is lighter and harder than magnesium, whilst offering corrosion resistance.
The Daiwa Freams has been upgraded to use Zaion
ZAION combines these two qualities. Whilst conventional carbon is made from nylon 6-6 resin and 20 per cent carbon fibre, ZAION boasts double the carbon fibre density. The result is a unique material as strong as magnesium. The ZAION reel body is 25 per cent lighter than its magnesium equivalent and 50 per cent lighter than aluminium!
Zaion’s engineers set out to create a material as rigid as metal but as light as carbon. Conventional wisdom holds that aluminium spools provide durability, whilst polycarbonate is required for lightweight bodies and rotors.
